Recycle your colors

I always tell friends, family and people I meet—when they ask me about my blog—that going green doesn’t mean giving up your sense of style. Nor does it mean being confined to a set of rules, shapes, patterns or even colors.

Especially colors, and especially now. Zoya, spa-quality, eco-friendly and fashionista-approved nail polish brand, is offering a fantastic way to recycle your old nail polish bottles and do something green for the environment this Earth Day. Starting April 22nd through June 30th, 2010, send in your old, ugly, tired and dried out old nail polish bottles (minimum of  6) and Zoya will give you brand new, fresh and funky polishes of your choice! And what a choice: there are over 300 fabulous colors to choose from! Just pay $3.50 for shipping and handling for each bottle ordered. Not bad, especially if you are a salon owner trying to go green or nail-polish freaks like my mom and I!

Zoya’s story is very interesting. Husband and wife duo Michael and Zoya Reyzis started their company in 1986. Zoya, originally a classical pianist in Russia, earned her cosmetology license in 1979 when her and her husband immigrated to the United States. Zoya quickly grew her career in cosmetology and worked together with Michael, an advanced chemist, to develop and patent unique and healthy salon-quality products. Together, they created the first toxin-free natural nail polish, revolutionizing the nail industry:

“As the first to remove toxic ingredients such as toluene, camphor, formaldehyde and DBP (dibutyl phthalate) from its formulations, [Zoya] maintains its focus on the health and well being of salons, spas and consumers.”

Not one to pass up a good deal—or an eco-friendly promotion—my mom and I quickly raided our nail polish drawer and are exchanging eleven of our old bottles for some shiny new, eco-friendly Zoya bottles! Take a look at our new colors:
