If you’re like me, you compartmentalize your life into many different bags. I have a gym bag, lunch bag, work bags, going out bags, bumming-around-town bags, and of course, reusable bags for grocery shopping and even others I use for clothes shopping.

Well Holly Jordan, founder of Esse Reusable Bags, knows that all too well. Her and her business partner Dawn got together one day to solve the perplexing problem of being green and remembering to bring reusable bags while shopping:

“We wanted to eliminate paper and plastic—and remember to use our [reusable] bags. We were tired of our bags rolling around in the backs of our cars, getting dirty and lost. We needed to ‘contain the madness’ as we like to say! So the CarryAll Tote was born. No more over-advertised, unattractive and cheaply made bags.”

Holly and Dawn’s invention is an eponymous carry-all tote that is easy to use everywhere you go.  It is stuffed with her great reusable bags and comes in all different colors and patterns, to match your mood and style.

When I told Holly and Dawn that I was a green blogger, they were kind enough to give me one of their ingenious Quick Paks: a sturdy green reusable bag with two produce bags…all neatly tucked away into a carry pack. This is perfect for those quick trips to the market. The Pak has a drawstring closure and a carabiner clip for hanging on your purse. The bag itself holds the equivalent of 2 plastic bags and the two produce bags allows you to shop, wash & store your produce all in one!

When I got home from my exciting day at the Living Green Expo, my mom wanted to see my spoils…and she immediately grabbed my green Quick Pak! My mom is also like me, in that she has tons of bags. Except, she always forgets her reusable bags when shopping (unless I’m there to remind her). So I told her she could have the Quick Pak on one condition: that she carry it in her purse wherever she goes! Here’s what she had to say:

“I really love this bag because it neatly and quickly tucks away into the pouch in which it came, and it’s a perfect size for me to put in my bag. It’s extremely versatile: I’ve used it for grocery shopping, and I especially love the produce bags. I also use it when I am making a return at a store or shopping in general, and I’ve even used the bag to drop off clothes at the dry cleaners! The only problem right now is that I left it in the trunk of my car and am not using it as often as I should! Otherwise, I love it!”

Ok, so you can’t change behaviors over night, but you can make small changes every day. And that’s precisely Holly and Dawn’s mission through Esse:

“We really need to change our habits and we need to do it now. Using reusable bags is one small step towards taking care of the earth and it is one that is easy to adopt if you have the right tools. Together, we really can make a difference and Esse’s goal is to help make the transition, just a little easier.”
